Why keep the best on the inside?

In Edo-period Japan, sumptuary laws forbade the display of wealth. So the merchants of Kyoto wore plain black coats — and lined them, secretly, with the finest silk in the empire.

They called it ura-masari.
“The inside surpasses the outside.”

Made where the material lives.

THE DETAILS

The jacket worn: black melton body, kurozan leather sleeve, white snaps, the edge of the rib.
Black rib, black wool, black leather. The varsity, unlettered.

When will it ship?

Each jacket is made to order in Japan. Shipping begins late November 2026.

Are duties really included?

Yes. We ship DDP — the price you see is the price you pay.

What if the size isn't right?

Five sizes, S through XXL, each to a fixed measurement. Because only one hundred are made, we cannot exchange one for another — there is no second jacket in your size waiting.

Each jacket is sewn by hand. Expect a variance of about 1 cm.

The surest way to choose is to measure a jacket you already wear, laid flat, and compare it against the table.

Can I cancel or return it?

Orders can be cancelled within seven days of the order date. After that, your jacket is committed to production. Each jacket is made to order, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges for fit or preference. Defects and shipping damage are another matter: if a jacket arrives faulty, damaged in transit, or is not what you ordered, write to us within eight days of delivery. We cover return shipping and any duties. We will repair or replace it, or refund you in full.

Why only 100?

The materials cannot be rushed. One hundred is what four workshops can make without compromise. We will not restock this edition.

What does the ten-year repair cover?

Sleeve leather, ribbing, and lining, for ten years from delivery. We cover the work; you cover shipping to us. Wear is not damage — a jacket that has aged is a jacket that has been worn.
